Do I need a prescription for Physical Therapy?

No.  State laws in Illinois have recently changed, so you can see your physical therapist without a prescription.  Medicare cases still need physician prescriptions, however.

How long will my treatment last?

The first session lasts about an hour for the evaluation. Follow up visits take between 45 – 60 minutes. The duration of your treatments will depend on your needs, the doctor’s recommendations, and hands-on time with the physical therapist.  Experience the difference at Moffett Physical Therapy.

Does my insurance cover physical therapy?

We will contact your insurance company to get your physical therapy benefits and in most cases, contact you before your first treatment to discuss the level of coverage.

Does Medicare cover physical therapy?

Yes. Medicare does cover physical therapy, however, there is a limit to what Medicare covers per calendar year. For 2019, Medicare covers $2,040.00 of physical and speech therapies. There are exceptions to this rule. If you believe you may exceed this limit, let us know and we’ll find out if you can continue after reaching your maximum.

Will my doctor receive updates on my progress?

Yes. We will send progress notes to your doctor prior to any follow-up visits you may have. 

Will I need to do home exercises in addition to my therapy?

In most cases, we will provide a specifically tailored exercise program for your injury and recovery.
